This is a fantastic Black Wound Badge, made even more desirable by the original matching packet. The badge itself is very well preserved and retains nearly all of the original black paint to the front, showing only very minor wear and age.

Light weight tan cotton material, well used and altered. Can see faint maker stamps inside. Shoulder boards are for transportation and are held on with long cotton sleeves, all buttons are held on by 'S' rings, fifth button added to front with sewn eyelet. Buttons are metal with plastic for the wound pockets. Repairs to front, back and sleeves. Sleeves have been shortened in center so as not to mess with cuffs, eagle looks to have been replaced.

Original cover with West German liner. The national emblem and wreath are machine woven in white thread on black cloth , white is an early insignia, insignia is hand sewn. Cover has the correct circular weaving and tail.

GENERAL ASSAULT BADGE

This example is a solid version, with a slightly domed reverse. Approximately 80% of the original silver finish is intact, while the highlights show moderate wear. The reverse has a vertically mounted pin the functions perfectly . A very nice example! This badge was instituted on June 1, 1940 and was intended for award to personnel who supported an attack but were not eligible for Infantry or Armored Assault Badges. It was awarded to members of the Artillery, Engineers, Anti-Tank and Anti-Aircraft Units that served the Infantry or Armor in an auxiliary role in the conduct of the assault. Medical personnel were also eligible if they cared for wounded under close combat conditions.

Third Reich National Automobile Club "DDAC" Auto Pennant. Nice looking printed double-sided Pennant complete with rope bunting and metal clips. This piece measures about 8 inches by 12 1/2 inches in size.
