LUFTWAFFE RADIO/AIR GUNNERS BADGE

LUFTWAFFE RADIO/AIR GUNNERS BADGE

This is an zinc example with most of finish gone. It was intended to be awarded to Air Gunners, Radio Operators and Mechanics who successfully completed two months of training in one of the positions, in a minimum of five operational flights. The badge could have been awarded should the recipient be wounded on an operational flight. It depicts a Luftwaffe eagle in flight, clutching in its claws a pair of arrow headed lightning bolts. This example was produced by the firm of W.DEUMER LUDENSCHEID , it also has a name scratched above marker but i cannot read it. It has a vertically mounted narrow pin on the reverse and works perfectly. A choice example! Same badge in Combat Badges by Previtera luft volume 2.
