WWII GIFT OF SOLDIER TO HIS FATHER, BOX OF ASHTRA
Here is a gift a soldier sent home to his dad or Grandfather for Father's Day. We researched the stamp a little and found that the 17 cent stamp with Andrew Johnson on it was first issued in 1938. Also we can read on the postmark that this stamp was canceled in Jefferson Barracks (?) MO. Inside are 4 clear glass ashtrays with a military patch glued to the underside which was then covered by felt. All are in excellent condition - I doubt they were ever used.
