Hand embroidered example features a double, overlaid, eight point, sunburst pattern with the top, inner layer, sunburst in matte, brownish/grey, cotton threads, and the bottom, outer layer, in bright, silver/aluminum wire threads. The cross has a gilt washed, circular, stamped alloy, wreath with embossed laurel leaves and "ribbons" and a small banner with the impressed introduction date, "1941" to the bottom center. WWII GERMAN MARKSMANSHIP LANYARD GRADE 11

German Army Marksmanship Lanyard Grade 11 First pattern, (June 1936-January 1939), grade eleven marksmen’s lanyard consists of a heavy, twisted, interwoven silver/aluminum braid with buttoning loops to both the top and bottom ends. The top of the lanyard has a gilt washed, die stamped, alloy construction, vertically oval, embossed, oak-leaf wreath with a Wehrmacht style eagle with down swept wings to the top center encompassing crossed swords which are superimposed on a shield shaped base with a subtly pebbled background field.
